GET INVOLVED

Sharing Knowledge

The knowledge discovered through research and collaboration provides new insights that can reshape the approach to both wellness and illness.  The ultimate goal is a world in which medical professionals encourage creative engagement in their patients as a path towards healing, and patients have confidence that artistic and creative work can be as vital to the maintenance and restoration of health as diet, exercise, nutrition, medications and surgery.

New Initiative – Healing the Hospital

Recognizing that hospitals, in addition to being a central delivery point for medical services, are often among the largest employers in a community, the Foundation is creating a new signature community program that will bring the healing power of creative expression to the entire hospital community.  Healing the Hospital is designed to connect the full range of hospital employees with hands-on opportunities to explore their own creative practice and share it with others in the hospital community, improving the overall hospital environment for all.  To learn more about this exciting new initiative, download our Healing the Hospital overview or contact us at info@artandhealing.org.

Community Workshops

The Foundation sponsors Community Workshops in which individuals, families or caregivers work directly with artists to promote healing.  These workshops provide “hands-on” experience-based learning opportunities in a safe and encouraging environment.  The programs are broad in scope, appealing to those dealing with serious illness, loss of a loved one, the stress of caretaking or simply the stress of every day life. Within this nurturing and learning space, participants can explore their own personal relationship with art and healing.  The workshops are delivered in coordination with other community-based outreach programs and across a wide variety of organizations to maximize access and diversity.
